Abstract
Diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection consists of invasive and non-invasive methods. Recommendation for the diagnosis includes either one of the noninvasive methods (urea breath method, stool antigen test, or serum H. pylori immunoglobulin G antibody test) or invasive methods (rapid urease test or gastric biopsy for histology, polymerase chain reaction assay). For invasive methods, it is recommended to take both samples at the antrum and body and to biopsy the sites that show the least atrophic and intestinal metaplastic findings. Follow-up tests after eradication include urea breath method, stool antigen test, rapid urease test, or histology after 4 weeks.
